ENG | Above Santa Brigida, in the cave of Filone, lived a monstrous dragon with bat-like features and a glowing diamond set in its tongue. Every summer, it would emerge to hunt, spreading fear among the mountain folk of Alta Val Brembana. Its flight left fiery trails, and the shedding of its scales burned grass and trees.
Though not evil—just ravenous—many tried in vain to kill the creature or steal its diamond. Among them was Bulgher, who narrowly escaped and came out with his hair turned white from fear, and Ventura, who was devoured after his attack failed. Since then, the dragon vanished, but on summer nights, people say you can still hear its eerie hissing and the cries of the doomed hunter.
